Tuscany is one of the most famous regions in Italy and Italy is one of the most famous countries in the world. While that doesn’t necessarily, from a strictly logical point of view, make Tuscany one of the most famous regions of the world, it is safe to say in this case that indeed Tuscany is quite high in the global consciousness or at the very least in its international name recognition. The Toscana, as it’s known in Italian, is well deserving of its fame as it has tremendous physical beauty in the form of gently rolling hills baked in Mediterranean sunlight; its food is some of the most delicious in a country that is itself famed and celebrated for its cuisine; and the history of Tuscany is one of the oldest in Europe and was itself already an ancient region by the time the Roman Republic came into prominence.
These are just a handful of the reasons why motorbiking in Tuscany has become one of the trendiest Italian trips in the past couple of decades. With so much to offer in the form of nature, history, food, and culture, there are few places in all of Europe and possibly even the world at large that could reasonably rival the Toscana in its offerings to the tourist.
The easiest way to get to Tuscany is to fly into the region’s capital, Florence. Although the area that now makes up Florence has been inhabited since ancient times, Florence, as a city, came into its own during the Renaissance, which it in fact gave birth to. While it’s not necessary to get a motorbike to explore the city, it’s nevertheless still a great deal of fun to do so. At the very least, do give yourself a couple of days to explore the city’s amazing architecture and its glorious churches and cathedrals that have been the inspiration for architects ever since.
Florence is also a good place to hire a motorbike as will most likely be necessary to do unless you manage to spend a fair amount of time in the saddle simply getting there. Even if that is the case, you’re in for a spectacular treat as biking Tuscany is one of the most rewarding ways to experience Italy.
